Tyson Fury Ends Retirement for April 11 Netflix Fight

Tyson Fury is officially ending his 13-month retirement. On April 11, the "Gypsy King" returns to the UK to face Arslanbek Makhmudov in a heavyweight clash streaming live on Netflix. This homecoming marks a new chapter for Fury and the streamer’s first live boxing broadcast from British soil.

To retire or not to retire? That is the question, and former heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has elected to answer it with a resounding, "Not to retire!" Thirteen months after unsuccessfully challenging Oleksandr Usyk for the heavyweight crown and subsequently retiring, Fury has elected to return in a bout later this year.

On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Netflix announced Fury will share the ring with Arslanbek Makhmudov in a heavyweight contest on April 11 in the United Kingdom. The event will be broadcast on Netflix with an undercard to be announced at a later date.

“Excited to be back,” Fury told Netflix. “Heart’s always been and always will be in boxing. Someone go tell the king that the ace is back!”

Fury is no stranger to Netflix. While this is his first time fighting on Netflix, the former heavyweight champion is the star of the streamer's reality series, At Home with the Furys. Season two is expected to premiere this spring.

“I have long admired Tyson Fury as one of the most resilient and captivating boxers of his generation. His career has been defined by beating the odds, and there is an undeniable electricity whenever he fights," Gabe Spitzer, Vice President of Sports at Netflix, said. "We are incredibly excited to see him come out of retirement for this massive homecoming, and we love giving our members a front-row seat to the next chapter of the Gypsy King’s legacy.”

Fury may be looking to begin the next chapter of his storied career, but Makhmudov is looking to end it before it even begins. The 6'6 heavyweight is riding high after picking up a big win against Dave Allen at the end of last year. With a win against Fury, he would put himself squarely in position for a heavyweight title.

“I am thrilled about the opportunity. I’m coming to deliver a war,” Makhmudov said. “Tyson Fury has been a big champion. I will be more ready than ever to leave with a massive W.”

With a refreshed Fury and a motivated Makhmudov, Netflix is ready to take the next step in its boxing journey. The streamer has presented Serrano-Taylor III, Tyson-Paul, Crawford-Alvarez, and, most recently, Joshua-Paul. However, this fight marks a shift in its foray into boxing, as Fury-Makhmudov is Netflix's first boxing event not featuring either Jake Paul or a world title.
